Depression
Depression affects more than a million people in Britain and is on the increase. Depression can be felt as extreme unhappiness or as a lack of drive or motivation or a mixture of both. Certain neurotransmitters in the brain are thought to be involved; serotonin is considered to have an effect on self-image and mood whilst noradrenalin is more involved in motivation and drive.
These neurotransmitters are made within the body from the food you eat and their conversion from proteins in the diet to the chemical (ie. serotonin); rely on certain vitamins and minerals. You are what you eat!
