Osteoporosis
Osteoporosis is a bone thinning disorder and a risk factor for bone fracture. Normal bone building takes place constantly as forces transmitted through the bones when we walk, run or jump cause tiny stress fractures. These have to be repaired before they can spread and cause serious disruption.
The key to healthy bones is maintaining the delicate balance of hormones that control calcium in the blood and bones. However calcium is not the only nutrient required for bone building. Bone building is a complicated process and requires magnesium, proteins and essential co-factor nutrients i.e. omega 3 & 6 fats, vitamins and trace minerals.
Such risk factors as poor diet, depression, chronic stress, heavy metal toxicity, pregnancy, excessive exercise, inactivity and eating disorders can all lead to nutrient depletion in the body.
